Hello!  My name is Frank and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly called Mormons.  Just as you do, I have opinions about things.  My opinions are not the view of the leadership of the Church.  I cannot and do not speak for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  What you will read in the opinion of one man, one Mormon, one Latter-day Saint.  It may not agree with the opinions of other Latter-day Saints, probably not with most Latter-day Saints' opinions.
Latter-day Saints consider themselves Christians.  They believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God the Father, their Savior, and the Living Head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I do!
They believe the Savior guides and directs the Church through His prophet, seer, and revelator, Thomas S. Monson, a modest man, who lives in Salt Lake City, UT.  I believe that Thomas S. Monson is Jesus' mouth piece on Earth.  Theoretically, every Mormon who considers themselves "active" should believe that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet of the Lord.
I state that last opinion about every "active" member because there are always a few "active" Latter-day Saints who claim to know the will of the Lord (Jesus Christ) better than His Prophet, Seer, and Revelator.  To me, it is as if the tail were wagging the dog, so to speak!  So until the Lord offers new revelation concerning the ordination of women and/or the marriage of gay couples in the Church by Church authority, please, take your arguments elsewhere.  I will listen politely but disagree with you until the cow's come home, okay?
Right now, I would like to ask my co-religionists - not only LDS, but Baptists, Evangelicals, Catholics, Episcopalians, heck, Christians of every ilk - who claim that the US is a Christian nation, why don't we act like Christians when it comes to politics?  Why do we let politicians dictate our religion?  Shouldn't our religion dictate our politics?
According to Matthew 22:37 the first commandment is, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."  In verse 38 the second is laid done thus, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."  John the Beloved records Christ's admonition, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."  So, if you love Him, you are required to love your neighbor - whatever he/she looks like, speaks, or believes, and not just on Sunday (or Saturday is your a 7th Day Christian).  Remember the "Good Samaritan"?
